New at UNCG: Arch MI Scholarships

Greensboro’s Arch Mortgage Insurance Company (Arch MI) has offered its financial support to UNC Greensboro for more than 40 years. UNCG’s Bryan School of Business and Economics and Spartan Athletics are among the programs that have received generous gifts.

Now, the company establishes the Arch MI Scholars at UNCG with a pledge to award scholarships to four deserving students over their junior and senior years.

Willoughby-Hudsons’ gift for expanding horizons

Kirk and Lance Willoughby-Hudson firmly believe in the importance of educational experiences abroad.

For them, such experiences inspired an appreciation for other cultures that led to empathy and the ability to find common ground in both personal and professional relationships.

Acting upon their belief, the couple has established the Willoughby-Hudson Study Abroad Endowment Fund with a generous pledge to fund international travel abroad experiences for students in UNCG’s Bryan School of Business and Economics.

Volvo Group North America, LLC, has pledged $100,000 to UNC Greensboro for the purpose of supporting the UNCG’s Bryan School of Business and Economics Blueprint Series.

Barretta Scholarships fuel foundation for careers

Entrepreneurs Sherry and Tony Barretta recognize education as the key to their career success. They established the Sherry and Tony Barretta Scholarship Endowment to honor the memory of Sherry’s mother, Vernie L. Kling, for her lifelong commitment to education and for making the sacrifices necessary for Sherry and her sister, Vickie Kling Thompson ’66, to obtain degrees from UNCG.

Fripp gifts make big impact

With two degrees in history – a bachelor’s from Woman’s College and a master’s from UNC Greensboro – Gayle Hicks Fripp ’63, ’69 MA became one of the most impactful historians in Guilford County.

Now, her impact in the field is assured for perpetuity.
