UNCG faculty gift furthers a legacy of music education

UNCG’s School of Music produces excellent performers, K-12 teachers, and collegiate educators. It’s “extraordinary” says Professor Emerita Nancy Walker. Now, she and her husband, Tim Lindeman, will do more. They’re supporting undergraduates majoring in voice who exemplify remarkable academic, artistic, and professional promise through the newly-established Nancy Walker and Timothy Lindeman Scholarship Endowment in Music.

Phipps family expands impact with new nursing scholarship

A gift from Dale S. Phipps ’82, ’86 and Barbara M. Phipps establishes the Dale and Barbara Phipps Nursing Scholarship Fund. It also furthers the Phippses’ commitment to three existing funds: the Dale and Barbara Phipps Accounting Scholarship Fund, the Kathy Walker Phipps Graduate Award in Creative Writing, and the Dale and Barbara Phipps Athletic Scholarship Endowment.

Berryhill scholarships grow education at UNCG

UNCG’s School of Education makes a profound impact on classrooms in North Carolina. Teachers trained at UNCG, who often have more than 1,000 hours of hands-on experience in classrooms by the time they graduate, are ready for successful careers.

Now, a testamentary gift to the Barbara Davis Berryhill and Leigh Berryhill Teacher Education Scholarship Fund from Barbara Berryhill ’57 will add to the original endowment and support even more students.

New at UNCG: Arch MI Scholarships

Greensboro’s Arch Mortgage Insurance Company (Arch MI) has offered its financial support to UNC Greensboro for more than 40 years. UNCG’s Bryan School of Business and Economics and Spartan Athletics are among the programs that have received generous gifts.

Now, the company establishes the Arch MI Scholars at UNCG with a pledge to award scholarships to four deserving students over their junior and senior years.

Sloan Scholar Becomes UNC System Presidential Scholar

Raven Sizemore ’24, the first recipient of the Sloan Scholarship endowed by Linda Fisher Sloan ’82 MFA and Thomas R. Sloan, graduated last spring.

Since its inaugural year, additional outstanding Spartans have become Sloan Scholars, too: Amelia Hanson, Jayson Flores-Rivera, Iyana Mercado, Juliet Asiegbunam, and Harmony Fairley. The scholarship covers tuition and other costs, including support for study-abroad experiences, service learning, or internships.
