Forrest Family plans gift to support nursing students

Students who earn degrees in health care fields can make a big impact in their communities. Now, Betty Wall Forrest ’75 has announced a planned gift that will help UNC Greensboro Nursing students with financial need through the Betty Jo Wall Forrest and Hayes Womble Forrest Family Legacy Endowment Scholarship Fund.

Spartans receive Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia Scholarship

Several Spartan doctoral students in the School of Nursing have been supported by a special one-year scholarship.

Before the 2022-2023 academic year began, the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia Board of Directors established a merit scholarship for students in UNC Greensboro’s School of Nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Nurse Anesthesia Concentration.

Bain Scholarships will support UNCG Athletics, master of public affairs

UNCG alumnus John Bain and his late wife, Anita, recognized higher education as the key to success in life. Now John is honoring Anita’s memory by helping ensure Spartans will succeed for generations to come through the Anita and John Bain Athletic Endowment Scholarship and the Anita and John Bain Endowed Scholarship.

Let the music play! At UNCG, new scholarship in collaborative piano

Imagine a world without music! For Ruth Heyd ’99 and Stephanie Frazier, that would be unthinkable. They are proud to establish the Ruth Darling Heyd ’99 and Stephanie Frazier Scholarship Endowment in Collaborative Piano at UNCG’s School of Music with a $600,000 planned gift. It is their hope the scholarship will inspire future students to major in this area.

PROFESSOR’S ESTATE GIFT IMPACTS UNCG ARTS

The arts at UNCG received a $266,389 gift from the estate of former art history professor Claire Kelleher, a longtime faculty member and scholar of medieval art and architecture. 

Barretta Scholarships fuel foundation for careers

Entrepreneurs Sherry and Tony Barretta recognize education as the key to their career success. They established the Sherry and Tony Barretta Scholarship Endowment to honor the memory of Sherry’s mother, Vernie L. Kling, for her lifelong commitment to education and for making the sacrifices necessary for Sherry and her sister, Vickie Kling Thompson ’66, to obtain degrees from UNCG.

Fripp gifts make big impact

With two degrees in history – a bachelor’s from Woman’s College and a master’s from UNC Greensboro – Gayle Hicks Fripp ’63, ’69 MA became one of the most impactful historians in Guilford County.

Now, her impact in the field is assured for perpetuity.

TIPPETT GIFT CREATES TUNSTALL SCHOLARSHIP FOR ADULT STUDENTS

Deborah Tunstall Tippett ’73, ’81 MS, ’91 PhD has established the Ann Satterwhite Tunstall Scholarship Fund with a planned gift to UNC Greensboro. The fund honors the memory of her mother and will support adult students seeking undergraduate degrees in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.
