Featured Spartans Give Projects
CNNC: Opening New Doors
For over 20 years, the Center for New North Carolinians (CNNC) has been dedicated to supporting refugees and immigrants in Greensboro and Guilford County.
Contribute to the opening of a new community center in east Greensboro, which will serve a neighborhood that is home to multiple apartment complexes that are frequently used as initial housing for refugee resettlement agencies. The new community center will provide place-based, holistic services within walking distance of their homes, allowing families to achieve stability and integration.
First Generation Commencement Stole Project
Help our first-generation students demonstrate pride in their accomplishments by sponsoring a special commencement stole!
Fifty percent of all UNCG undergraduates self-identify as first-generation students. In other words, they will be the first in their families to graduate from college. With a gift of $35 to the Commencement Regalia Support Fund, you can ensure that a future first-generation graduate can wear a stole as they cross the commencement stage free of charge. Thank you to UNCG Campus Enterprises for sponsoring the first 500 stoles!
School of Theatre Name a Seat Campaign
Built in 1967, Taylor Theatre precedes the internet, wireless, cell phones, and laptops. It’s time for a refresh!
Over the next 12–18 months and with funding as part of the state budget, Taylor Theatre will receive infrastructure modernization attending to deferred maintenance, including the original HVAC system. And you might see some welcome changes to the auditorium. You can be part of this with the School of Theatre Name a Seat campaign. Choose to make a gift for a single seat, several seats, a small row, or a large row.
Spartan DRIVE
Working to reduce UNCG’s carbon footprint and improve community housing.
UNC Greensboro’s Office of Sustainability is calling for collective action from employees, students, and alumni to help reduce the University’s carbon footprint and improve housing conditions for Guilford County residents. Spartans, you can support this campaign by contributing $15 per year of employment to offset your greenhouse gas emissions from commuting to and from campus. If you’ve worked at UNCG for 5 years, you can offset your emissions for $75!

All Spartans Give project applications are reviewed and decided on by the Spartans Give Campus Council. It also ensures that no one area of campus is over- or under-represented in Spartans Give.

- Any Spartans Give project or campaign must have a University-approved fund number where donations can be deposited.
- All projects must support UNCG programs and initiatives. Funds cannot be redirected to a third party, external charity, or other non-profit organization. UNCG cannot act as a “pass-through” entity to provide funding to other charities (e.g. using Spartans Give to raise money for the Red Cross is not allowed).
- All donations received for the project must be used for the project’s stated purpose. Individuals are strictly prohibited from keeping any portion of the funds raised as a profit or compensation. All projects must be non-profit in nature.
- All projects must be able to identify at least 100 individuals to contact for your campaign (whether via email or cell phone). You will be asked to develop a targeted audience — you and your team members must be comfortable soliciting your target audience personally.
- All projects will be required to raise at least 30% of your goal before the public campaign goes live.
- If this is your first Spartans Give campaign, your public-facing goal cannot exceed $5,000.
While we encourage Spartans Give project teams to set acheivable goals, not every project will hit 100% of that support. But no fear: any money raised during a Spartans Give campaign will still go towards the campaign’s designated fund.
Several types of funding make up the revenue model of public universities. These sources include state appropriations, student tuition and fees, private gifts, grants, and corporate and foundation partnerships. Philanthropic giving is vital to the sustainability and success of state universities like UNCG.
