Minerva, the Roman Goddess of Wisdom, has been a symbol for UNCG since its earliest days. From the statue on campus to the logo to the University seal, Minerva has become an essential piece of the UNCG experience.
The UNCG Office of Annual Giving is looking for a creative graphic illustration of Minerva’s head to turn into an acrylic pin for loyal donors. We would love to see your interpretation of a Minerva pin! Please make sure it is full color. Submit your illustration according to the guidelines outlined below by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on March 13.
The winning illustration will receive $100 Spartan Cash* and a UNCG swag pack. Two runners-up will also win UNCG swag packs!The winning artist will be highlighted on social media and in other UNCG communications.The artist’s Instagram handle will also be included with the pin (if desired).
*Monetary gifts received through this contest will be reported to Financial Aid and may impact the amount of aid you are eligible for.For students employed by the University, winnings must be reported to Payroll as well.
Last year’s pin was created by Alejandro Tapia. You can use this as a reference, but please make your design unique to you!

This contest is open to all current UNCG students.
All designs must be original creations of the contestant. Submissions must not have been previously published and must not contain profanity, trademarks, other organization’s logo, or any copyrighted works of any other personal or business.
The design should be in full color.
While a full-body illustration of Minerva can be submitted, only the head will be used for the pin. The pin needs to be legible as Minerva.
A hi-res design must be submitted in .pdf, .jpg., or .png format via the submission form by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on March 13, 2026.
The winning designer agrees to sign a waiver to allow UNCG Advancement the use of their design, free of charge, for any and all printing and promotional purposes.
